Custom 3D buttons

How are all of you coming up with those custom 3D buttons?

Is it all in creation, or are there plugins & downloads?

Mines are home-made with AppleWorks, but there are some Aqualike buttons and templates open source around here also....

I'm, in particular, looking for a good preview icon and one for sort. I like the MacOS look, too, but will settle for something nice and not shabby looking.

Have either of you seen good icons for this? Can you direct me to where I can dl.
