Too Many Indexes Error

Featured Replies

Hello. I am trying to connect to a FMP 5.5 database from Access 2000. The database is exposed through the DSN (I can see it), but when I select the FM database, I get error: "the operation failed. There are to many indexes on table [tablename]. Delete some indexes and try the operation again."

I deleted all the indexes and I still get this error message.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I see that this is about a year old, but in case this is still being looked at...

Did you ever receive an answer regarding the maximum of 33 indexed fields? Should the statement in the readme.doc file be interpreted to mean that MS-Access can only handle up to 33 fields, whether or not they are indexed?

So here's the result of a quick test: use a FMPro v 5.5 file with 32 fields, and I can link it to MS-Access 2K via ODBC just fine. When I add one more field (thus making 33 fields), I get the "too many indexed fields" error (even though no fields are actually indexed).

Conclusion (from a FMPro novice): MS-Access cannot handle more than 32 fields in a FMPro v5.5 file using ODBC.

So is there anything that can be done? I've got to attach to FileMaker Pro tables that have more than 32 fields. Anyone with suggestions?
