This may be a very simple problem, but I've never encountered it before. And since the problem is actually not with my database, but with my personnel department's database, I can't physically look at it and play around with it, due to confidentiality issues. Also, I did not create the database in the first place. Anyway, here's the problem. This particular database will only allow one find at a time. So, for example, if I want a report that lists all of the certified teaching staff with Masters Degrees or PhDs, who have been in the school district for 7 or more years, the logical answer is to search the "Degree" field for 'M' and for 'P' (or ask it to omit 'B'-bachelors), and search the years of service for '<7'. But this just won't work. It consistently comes back with Masters and PhDs, with anywhere from 1 to 37 years of service (or staff with more than 7 years of service, but all degree types).

Any thoughts?:? Please feel free to e-mail me at [email protected] with ideas. Thanks!!!

By "this particular database will only allow one find at a time", do you mean the design of the FM file is locked down so you can't create multiple find requests? If so, your only option is to have the designer change the design or let you unlock the file to perform manual finds.

Well, that was what I was wondering. I didn't know that one could "lock down" a database to limit finds. So, hopefully, this will answer my problem. THANKS!! You say "let you unlock the file to perform manual finds". If it is already set up for this option, how do I do this?
