Peter Fenner Posted May 13, 2003 Posted May 13, 2003 Hi There How do I create transparent graphics? Why would I want to anyway? Are they safe for cross-platform use? What is a mask? I came across Obegi's Aqua Graphite database which had a mask element in it. When playing with the image size the word "mask" never pixelates. I am really curious if I am missing out on a whole new design possibility. Would I be able to create fading transparent images? (ie: from 0% to 100% transparency within the same image) Thanks - Pete

Peter Fenner Posted May 13, 2003 Author Posted May 13, 2003 Thanks Christian - your answer has resolved all my queries. By the way, your 2-star rating is ridiculous - I have seen several of your posts on this forum and you are continually coming up with good answers for several questions asked. This forum is all the better with members like you. And I see you are still listed as a Newbie - it's just not fair! Keep it Up! - Pete
TooMuchSakeMan Posted May 28, 2004 Posted May 28, 2004 I have a need to have transparent graphics within my content, not just on the background, which this sounds like. Is there any way of doing that? My specific problem: I want to create a small image library (all imported GIFs) in one FM file, and use the images in that library in another FM file, via calculation with a container result. I need the actual GIF image backgrounds to be transparent because they are to be displayed in conjunction with another image which will change color and content depending on another calculation. But all the images I import have white instead of transparent backgrounds inside FM, despite showing correct transparency in Adobe Photoshop, MS Photo Editor, and even when referenced with HTML via a browser! Am I stuck? Can this work?
