Newbies Silhouette Posted May 13, 2003 Newbies Posted May 13, 2003 A friend sent me a FM file as an email attachment. The file came through but there was no data in the fields. What happened?
EddyB Posted May 13, 2003 Posted May 13, 2003 Your friend could have cloned the database file and sent you the clone - a cloned file contains all layouts and fields etc but no records. Justs makes the file smaller for sending to people - obviously no use if you want the data that the database holds!
Lee Smith Posted May 13, 2003 Posted May 13, 2003 Hi Silhouette Is this a trick question or something? Why are you asking the list why data wan't contained in the file, why not ask the sender why they sent an empty database? Lee
BobWeaver Posted May 13, 2003 Posted May 13, 2003 There is nothing in the process of emailing that could strip the data records out of a Filemaker file but still leave the rest of file intact. As Eddy and Lee have already pointed out, the sender must have accidentally sent you an empty file.
