hi,

I am trying to automate a script using task scheduler, so far i have it working by running the script on opening of filemaker, however the file requires a password, not to begin with as the file is empty but when the script ends and the file is full it must have a pssword, is this something to do with script step "change password" ?

any help much appreciated.

In the Preferences Document options you can set a default password that the file will use without prompting.

Thanks, but if this is set to open it with this password every time it does not become password protected, if you set a lower level password for this function, then you can not get back in to change the password to a higher level when the import script is complete. I think the other way is to get task manager to run a wsh after the filemaker database is opened to enter a password, any ideads??

Thanks for your help.

Why do you want to change the access level for someone in the middle of working on the file?

Vaughan's idea is that you have more than one password; one for full access (required), and one or more for partial access. Then you set one of the partial access passwords as your default. You can override this default when opening the file by holding down either the option key (on MacOS) or the shift key (on Windows).
