Exporting a found set of records...

Hello, sorry to post such a simple question...how can I export only a found set of records instead of an entire database? Thank you for your help...

Perform your find first, then export. FM will only export the found set.

Thanks! I didn't realize it was so easy. Another question...is it possible to export a layout from one database to another?

No, you cannot export a layout. However, you can copy and paste elements from one DB to another. Or as another option, you can save a copy of the original DB, then update the field definitions, calcs, etc. If your second DB already exists, I would copy and paste.

On the Mac, you can copy all the objects on a layout from one database to another. In layout mode (with drag & drop enabled) 1) unlock all objects, 2) Select all, 3) drag the selected objects to the desktop. This will create a "clipping". This clipping can then be dragged to a layout in another FM file (in layout mode). This will copy all the objects, you must still configure the layout parts.
