cranky formatting

OK, this one has potential to be very embarassing... I have a text field which displays JUST fine almost everywhere I put it and no matter how I size it on different layouts (the text starts in the upper left hand corner, and continues down the text box, depending on the size, on the next line - you get the picture).

Now all of a sudden on a new layout - no matter how I use the formatting icons or check all the other dropdown menus under field format and text format - it INSISTS on having the text on the left but CENTERED in the box - ie. if I've made the field large to accomodate records which have long decriptions, the records with short descriptions have their descriptions lying lonely and alone in the center of the box -

Why is this acting up? Why can't I fix it? Why is it good on some layouts and not others? mad.gif

Have you tried putting the field on this layout by copying it from another layout?

Have you tried re-creating the layout?

Just a couple of ideas -- if something works, it might explain what the problem was, and even if you don't get an explanation, at least it'll be working.

I tried all those things. Copying onto different layout, copying FROM another layout, format>align>left, format>align>top. Here's what worked (FileMaker - take notice):

Deleted the damned thing (had tried that before too, to no avail). Closed FM. Opened it again. Added it again. VOILA.

Go figure ----- and I rebooted only an hour ago (not this time though, maybe that would be a good idea too even though this machine is a screamer running WinXP) ----- VERY FUNKY.

Thanks guys - Bonnie
