setting global variable in server

Hi

I want to be able to change the server's view of what's in a global field. Is the only way to do this to close the server, open the file in fm pro (normal version). Change it and put it back? Surely there's an easier way?!

Bob

If you're the only user on the network, you can go to Define Fields, say OK, then clear the global and it will stick.

When I want to change the value of a global field so that everyone sees the same value (on files hosted by Server), I just add a Set Field in that file's Startup script (set to Startup via Document Preferences). Then whenever anyone opens that file from Server, the global field is set to the value specified in the script. Updating the Startup script can be done without having to kick anyone out of the hosted database file.
