Repeating fields, portals and web publishing.

Hi,

I have been donated a relational database which contains information about all of our staff. Each staff member has a Staff ID. There is a relationship between this database and a database conataining all staff publications. In the latter database, each publication has a list of authors (as a repeating field) with their corresponding staff number (as a repeating field). The relationship exists between the staff numbers. My problem lies in the fact that, on our website, we have a page where a user can pull up the details of a particular staff member, and listed at the bottom of the page, thanks to a portal, is a list of all publications that person was an author (or joint author) of.

The problem is, because of the repeating field, rather than each publication listing all authors, it only lists the first one.

I found a post which gave instructions on how to create a clone of, in my case, the publications database, and, via several steps, import the authors information, splitting them into different fields, then relinking the clone back to the publications by another portal. I tried this, but because the Staff ID is also a repeating field, it succeeded in then showing only one author and their equivalent ID in the publications database.

Is there any way that I can fix the publications database so that all authors will display on the webpage? I am relatively new to FileMaker and have been thrown in at the deep end with this one.

Nancy
