defining fields - Main Database

I'm very new at working with filemaker and I am wanting to know if I must list all the fields from the other files into the main database file? For ex. my main database is where I have the grower information. My next file-called production- has different fields, I want to build a relationship between the 2 of these. But am wondering if I have to list all the fields from production file into the grower database, under the define fields!!?? blush.gif

Hi:

No. You will need a field in each db to use for the relationship. These are called the primary (main db) and secondary keys. Once the relationship is established, you will be able to pull fields from the related files.

In other words, you will not have to define fields for every related field you have. Is that what you mean?
