June 9, 200322 yr Does anyone know how to export Filmaker data into LDIF or vCard (.vcf) format? All ideas appreciated. I am trying to export a FMP contact file into Apple's OSX Address Book program. Note: LDIF is not the same as the DIF format (as far as I can ascertain). Many thanks,
June 9, 200322 yr Author Never mind... I found a solution. For those interested, go here and scroll to these free downloads to see how to export one FMP contact record into a VCF file (VCF Export) or a whole set of records (FMP to iPod) utilizing XML export settings. Both solutions create a single .vcf file, which can then be imported into an iPod, or Apple's OSX Address Book app.
July 7, 200322 yr Newbies Hey Sharka, I have the same problem and I also found out about the link you posted, but the download doesn't work (server down). Will you send it to me via eMail? [email protected]
July 7, 200322 yr Hey, I've downloade this one about 3 days ago, and I've checked back. The link works crystal clear.... FMPToIpod
July 7, 200322 yr Newbies Hi Ugo, you're right, it works under windows. In all my browsers for MacOs 9 and Mac OsX it doesn't
July 7, 200322 yr Huh? MacOS 8.6 and I.E.5.1 is what I'm using...: Nevermind. Would you like me to send you the files, or are you OK with this.
July 9, 200322 yr Newbies No, thanks. Download via Windows worked and I got it through LAN. In between I found a far better way of importing Addresses from FileMaker to AppleAddressBook: There is a Script in //library/scripts/mail scripts called "Import Addresses" that works quite fine. It's made to Import Adresses from mailclients. For Entourage import you have the options 1) direct import and 2) import from exported file. The export file format of Entourage is Text/Tab, the first record contains the fieldnames. If you fill in the fieldnames into the first record of your FM database it works. 3 more Things to mention: 1) Either define the fieldnames as referenced in the script 2) or change the referenced fieldnames in the script 3) you can change the labels that show in AddressBook by changing the appropriate values in the script. This Solution is much more compatible and flexible.
