johncrane Posted June 10, 2003 Posted June 10, 2003 I will be setting up a Filemaker Server that will be used with local clients as well as Remote clients. There are about 15 local clients. The Remote clients will be accessing the databases using a IP number. There will be about 6 remote clients. The site that is hosting the files has a DSL Line that runs at about 384kbps for upload. We may have to stay with that line speed because of location. Currently the computer that is running the server is a Macintosh 400mhz G4 with 192kb memory running OS 9.2.2 and Virtual memory is turned Off. Filemaker Server is the only active application that this computer is running. Filemaker Server has been allocated 40mb of memory and 40mb of cache. The current usage for local clients is very good for the 15 users. I am looking for any recommendations for performance improvements for the remote users. This includes new server hardware but not the communications DSL line.
Anatoli Posted June 10, 2003 Posted June 10, 2003 A little basic research of forums will answer your question. It has been answered many times here.
