Ugo DI LUCA Posted June 23, 2003 Posted June 23, 2003 Following my last 2 posts from another thread ( CaptKurt Unique_ID , I wondered if there was an issue for this. I want a record to be auto-entered using a global field in the calc string. I found that the method profuced unexpected results, except if the global was referenced from a relationship. 1. Is this a known problem ? 2. Is there a problem to involve such a method?
cjaeger Posted June 23, 2003 Posted June 23, 2003 1. only with your specific database 2 not at all recover your database. it's corrupted. see attachment ugo.zip
Ugo DI LUCA Posted June 23, 2003 Author Posted June 23, 2003 ******* right from wha I can see with a test I've just made with a new file. I'll check back the given file tonight. Strange, it's a totally new file, just created with some new templates, hardly no records except the auto-enter and the calc... Thanks Christian. I prefer this answer...
cjaeger Posted June 23, 2003 Posted June 23, 2003 - changed my post & did a test file myself just to check.
Ugo DI LUCA Posted June 23, 2003 Author Posted June 23, 2003 Christian, Thanks for your time. I did a test on my file, recovered it. Works properly now. Corruption confirmed. Strange though that it worked when used with a constant relationship ! I had never used such a method first, but had the feeling it would have been useful. I was really stumped about why it wasn't working as expected. Thanks again.
Ugo DI LUCA Posted June 23, 2003 Author Posted June 23, 2003 Well, It wasn't corrupted. The calc was : Right( "00000" & Status(Status (CurrentRecord), 4)) & global & .... Sorry about the time lost on this.
