I'm trying to create a portal for a contact database which will accomodate a "Group" concept.

A company may be part of a larger group.

What I would like to create is a portal in an interface file showing a list of companies with those companies forming part of a larger group in one portal row with the group name. When you clik on the group name, I would like to display each of the underlying companies as a separate line item following the group name in the portal.

If you want only one portal, this is called a Drill-down portal, and you may find a very good example in the Sample Forum, posted by Vaughan. It was a Coin Collector database ?

If not, this would be a filtered portal.

Also, check the Line Items in Folders sampler. There also was a quick little demo posted some weeks ago about checkbox in portals which used this feature. I'll check back if I can find it as it was well done and very instructive.
