Hi,

I've inherited a database to which I need to do the following:

search for sales people

find associated invoices

display:

sales person one

their associated invoices (sorted)

sales person two

their associated invoices( sorted)

sales person three

etc.

I'm fine with filemaker sorting, but any ideas on how to do this sub-sort and grouping in a single report?

Hi:

Sounds like your looking for a report with grouped data.

Make a sorting script by sales person. Go to Layout:New Layout/Report. Select columnar list/report and then select report with grouped data. Specify the report to list by salesperson, then invoice. This kind of report can only be viewed properly in preview mode.

Make a script and attach it to a button that will go something like this:

Perform sort script to sort by salesperson

go to layout [your report]

enter preview mode

Then you can print, or whatever. Just make sure that you do the sort before viewing this report
