flora Posted July 15, 2003 Posted July 15, 2003 When I import a comma-delimited text file which does not have the same field names as my fmp db, I must order the fields in the destination file to match the order in the source file. Is there a way to assign a name to this order and place it on the "View by" list? Once, when I imported an update to my destination file, the "last order" view had changed inexplicably, and I again had to re-order the fields, which are extensive. I would like to have an order saved by a name I would assign, so that if the "last order" does change again, I can go to the "view by" list and choose my own named order. Does the "custom import order" choice offer such an option? Thanks for help.
Lee Smith Posted July 15, 2003 Posted July 15, 2003 Do your import manually first, and then create a script with the import step in it. FileMaker will then remember this import when ever you run the script. HTH Lee
flora Posted July 17, 2003 Author Posted July 17, 2003 Thanks, Lee. I'm sure this is going to save me heartache and time. Flora
