July 17, 200322 yr Hi all, If you have ever seen the DB "MoreVis" from John Mark Osborne's site Database Pros, you will know this has 4 great examples of visibilty tricks. I get the idea and have used these in some of my solutions. But 1 of the examples has me baffled. It is the example where a checkbox can be seen but is greyed out until you enter a date in the date field. I see the workings of this, the relationship with the constant field, the two checkbox fields, 1 grey not allowing entry into the field, 1 black allowing entry into the field. What I cannot work out is how he has got the relationship working so as to show the correct checkbox field - I cannot find a portal on the layout??? Please has anyone any idea on how he has done this? I have attached his DB in case you do not have it. Many thanks Ed. MoreVis.zip
July 17, 200322 yr The portals are hidden very well, barely bigger than the fields and text which surround them. Move the fields out of the way and then select all. You should see them.
July 17, 200322 yr Author Hi Queue, I had tried that but the portals were not there! I have just realised though that the portals and fields were grouped together. Once I ungrouped them, I found the portal. Thanks for your prompt reply Ed.
July 17, 200322 yr Doh! I forgot about that part. Glad you figured it out though. Sorry for the lack of full information.
July 17, 200322 yr Author No problem Your reply was enough to prompt me to look into the layout that little bit further, once I knew the portals were definitely there somewhere! Ed
