Summarize using relationships?

Featured Replies

I'm a newbie, so I apologize in advance for my lack of knowledge.

I have two files, EligibilityYearly.fp5 and Main.fp5.

In EligibilityYearly.fp5, the data entry fields are :

Plan No.

Year

Provider

Member Classification

Eligibility Count.

I created one layout in EligibilityYearly.fp5 that totals the eligibility count by provider, and another layout by member class when the user finds the plan no. and the year. Both also show a grand total of the count for the plan.

My problem is that I would like to display these summary reports in Main.fp5, which contains no records. I tried to relate the two databases using a concatenated match field

Plan No. & Right(Year, 2).

I created a summary layout in Main.fp5 with the related fields. However, when I find the Plan No. and Year in that layout in browse mode, one record at a time is displayed, not a summary like in EligibilityYearly.fp5.

Is part of the problem the fact that there are multiple records in EligibilityYearly.fp5 with the same match field? I need to be able to type only in the Plan No. and Year, not the Provider or Member Classification, and have the summary show. Is it even possible to summarize using the related data and the match field I have now? I appreciate any help you might be able to offer.
