This one may seem obvious, yet it's anything but. I am stumped. Any guidance will be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to design a List Layout with seven fields separated by hairlines in the Body Part. There are additional fields, all within one great square outline that extends from inside the Header to within the Footer. The idea is to have around 20 records per page.

The Body Part has me at a loss, since I can either, but not both:

Result 1. Display the spiffy format with a single record per page in Browse and Preview. This was done by extending the Body Part and outline to a full page, with a single line of fields, in Layout Mode.

Result 2. Display 20 records per page, with no hairlines between columns in the Body Part in Browse and Preview. This was done by fitting the Body Part snuggly in the single line of fields in Layout Mode.

An additional experiment, running a hairline through the single line of fields within the Body Part in Layout Mode, displays a dangling quarter inch hairline in Browse and Preview. A pitifull sight, really.

I have pored over the manual and the Help Guide, to no avail.

Is there a way to tackle this problem without resorting to Repeating Fields, which would defeat the purpose of my efforts? Likewise, eliminating the outline and columns is not an option; I need to have those columns separated by a visible hairline.

Alternatively, is there a way to achieve the desired results in Form Layout?

Thanks to all in advance for your kind attentions.

Please bear with me! My work server has been down for the last forty eight hours. I'll be back with an attachment layout ASAP, a picture is worth a thousand words.

Taking a WAG at what your problem is... move the hairlines down one pixel... you need to make sure its top edge (topmost pixel) is within the body... if it is within the header, then it won't get repeated for each row in the body.

IMO, FMP has some fencepost bugs... it is not entirely consistent on whether the end of a range is inclusive or exclusive... drove me nuts.

HTH. If not, post your pictures...

All right. Four days later, my server is back up. Let's get cooking:

Here is an attachment with two layouts. Please keep in mind that it is made with FMP 5.5 running on OSX. The layout names correspond to the names I gave them in the first post.

Okay, here goes nothing:
