Newbies :DTM. Posted July 25, 2003 Newbies Posted July 25, 2003 I don't know what the hell happened to my DB... I've built runtime solutions with FM Developer 5.5 for all three supported platforms and burnt them on CD. The Windows version refuses to show linked images [i have about 80 of them JPEGs] when run off the CD-ROM, while it works beautifully off any other writable media. "JPEG ERROR #62" is all I get... which is supposed to mean JERR_TFILE_CREATE - Failed to create temporary file %s Why on earth should the runtime try to write on read-only media? Can't it make its way to the hard disk? I swear it did work some time ago... You supernatural Guruz of FileMaker please please please give me a clue before I either burn the FMDev box, my brains or the last testing CD-R left on earth! Thanxxx, :DTM. aka Daniele Gubert
danjacoby Posted July 25, 2003 Posted July 25, 2003 It's only a guess, but: Windows, for some reason, creates temp files when viewing linked JPEGs. If so, the solution is not to link the images, but actually to import them, at least for the Windows version.
Newbies :DTM. Posted July 26, 2003 Author Newbies Posted July 26, 2003 Well in the end [four sleepless nights of compulsive testing] I converted everything to .PNG an re-linked the images... It works under WinXP, if it does on all plaftorms I'll let .JPEG alone from now on. Thank you FlourMaker for letting us know .JPG decompression needs a writable support under Windows and images linked from a CDR-based runtime solution just don't get displayed.
