Does anyone know how to create the equivalent of an Applescript called by a Filemaker script, but on the Windows platform?

On Apple Mac, a button in my FMPro DB of various documents (MS Word, Excel,...) runs a script that opens the original file in the appropriate application by means of an Applescript. It would be most useful to make this DB (including the 'open original' function) available for Windows. Does the Windows platform have a form of scripting that can be called from within an FMPro script?

While there are several Windows scripting programs, I found that WinBatch from WilsonWare is the best one. Pretty similiar to Applescript in functionality and works well with Filemaker.
