Are there other ways to initiate scripts other than buttons or opening or closing databases?

My goal is to have a script run automatically at the same time of day - everyday without a user triggering a script with a button. The database file is open 24hrs, therefore I cannot use the preferences to runa script when a file is open or closed.

Any suggestions are welcome.

You will have to purchase a plug-in the do that. Review the available plug-ins at either filemaker.com or fmfiles.com. There are a couple of plug-ins available that will allow you to trigger or schedule scripts.

On the mac platform you can use I Do script scheduler (included in current Mac OS) to trigger the script via an AppleScript.
