Newbies Stanley Tran Posted August 5, 2003 Newbies Posted August 5, 2003 Hi, Is there a way to have a unique calculation field? This calculation field is the result of three other text fields. The combination of these three fields has to be unique in the database. FMP doesn't give me the option of unique when creating the calculation field. Is there a work around for this? Thanks Stanley
Kurt Knippel Posted August 5, 2003 Posted August 5, 2003 How can FMP insure that the result of a calculation is Unique? You can force the other 3 fields to be unique, and thus the calculation would be unique. What is this for? There may be a better way to go about this.
fishma Posted August 6, 2003 Posted August 6, 2003 Agreed,... Concatenated fields should be used for display purposes only. When it comes to IDs, allow FMP to create one unique sequential number. Of course there are always extenuiating circumstances.
