how to create a self relationship to fill in the..

ok i know that this post is here somewhere. but here i go... ok i need to create a relationship so i can just add or pull info for a value list. you know the like a "city" or "state" field. any help would be great.

Hi Peter,

You can pull the information from an existing field within the same file by describing your value list in Define Value List (Menu - File - Define Value List) and use the existing field as your source.

If the information is in a different file, you can use a ~constant relationship of say "1" in both files and then describe the value list using that relationship and the field in the other file. If your "~constant" fields already exists in both files, you can create your relationship on the fly within your "Current" file in the Defind Value List Box.
