Prompting for Password on Edit

Featured Replies

Hi,

I wish to make a DB secure. In the past I've setup password access; low priv users just press return, high priv users ender a password known by all senior people.

The problem with this is that low priv users have to type return - an unnecessary action.

So.. Is there a way so that a password is only prompted for if a user tries to enter data into a field, rather than just browsing it which can be done with no password requests?

I also need such a solution to work in a portal.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Joseppic

Set the "blank" password as the default in Preferences. High privilege users would have to hold down the option key on a Mac or the shift key in Windows when opening the file in order to get the dialog box where they can enter their password (thus "overriding" the default).
