Can you use crystal reports with filemaker? If so how do you get started? I know how to use both filemaker and crystal reports I am just confused on how to pull the filemaker database onto crystal reports...Thanks a lot

You will need to pull the data via ODBC. The database must be running on a client with the Data Access Companion plug-in enabled and sharing enabled via the Data Access Companion. There are two versions of the plug-in, Local for files running on your machine and Remote for files running on another machine. Create a DSN for Filemaker.

When working with multiple FM files in Crystal, equal joins do not appear to work.

Hope this helps.

ok i added the dsn for filemaker but now how do i bring my database up through crystal reports... Here are the steps i am taking...

-New report using the report wizard

-create new connection

-ODBC

-FileMaker in the DSN table

-Next

-Now it asks me for some login information? What do I enter here? I tried entering my login information to logon to my database but it didn't work. Any ideas??? Thanks

What versions of each program are you using? I am using FM 5.5v2 and Crystal 8.5. When using the report expert, click the database button. You will get a tree view of possible connections. Double click ODBC, then under ODBC you should see the Filemaker DSN you created, under the DSN you should see your file. If your file is there, add it and continue with the report expert. If your file is not there, you need to share it. In Filemaker under the File menu, choose sharing and select the data access companion you enabled. If your file is password protected, you will be prompted for it before any data is retrieved. This would be the same password used to open the Filemaker file.

I am using filemaker v 6 and crystal reports 9. I am still not seeing my database show up when I click on the DSN i created. I shared my database so I dont know what the problem could be?
