I am new to Filemaker pro but I have a general understanding of DB development. I am using version 5 and I have a problem with a relationship between 2 db files.

I have a form which was created for filling in some fields for a check request. The fields I have problems with relate to the company which is located in the other DB file called suppliers. I have defined the fields to use a dropdown box for the name and the remaining fields, address, state, zip, phone are automatically filled in with a look up.

Now here is my problem. I made all the modifications on a local copy of the form Db file and everything works fine. Everything populates just like it is intended to. So i rename the live form DB and drop in the new modified db.

Now the dropdown box will not appear and fill in. Everything looks the same and I am at a loss as to this.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance. confused.gif

Check the relationship definition to the second file to see if it still exists and displays as intended.

If you don't keep all the files together when you work on them, the relationship will likely lose the path to the related file. Filemaker version 5.5 added a "Save relative path" option when specifying files so that file references would not get lost when moving the databases around. If you are using version 5.0, then you likely have to re-specify the relationship after you put the file into its final location.
