Newbies Need2Know Posted August 21, 2003 Newbies Posted August 21, 2003 I'm using the send email script to send email to people. I have the database in multi-user and I am able to send email through Outlook using my computer, but when the other 2 people try to use the buton to send the mail, it doesn't do anything. Can they send also, or does it have to be done through my computer only. What can I do to the script to let them also email from their computer??? Thank You.
JIM1945 Posted August 22, 2003 Posted August 22, 2003 you did not state whic os use are using. i run a network with two computers on cable connection. i am also using microsoft outlook on my xp's, i have outlook on both computers and the spipts will send my email on the second computer. if you are using dial up you will have to have it also on both computers to work. i hope this will help
jeffer Posted August 22, 2003 Posted August 22, 2003 The send mail script step operates with the mail application you have set as default. When this is an application witch can't communicate, it will not work. For instance: MacOS X Mail (apple) Starts up but doesn't create a new message with the data from Filemaker. When I set Entourage (outlook from office) as the default mail client, it will create a message with the data from Filemaker. There should be no problem when doing this on a network database (fm server), no matter what kind of connection is used. Each client should be possible to send mail from filemaker trough the send mail script step. Note that this is all done on an Apple computer! greetz, Jeffer

ernst Posted August 23, 2003 Posted August 23, 2003 For Jeffer, Tried it with Mac OS 10.2.6 and Mail 1.2.5 and it worked. Ernst.
jeffer Posted August 25, 2003 Posted August 25, 2003 Hi Ernst, I have seen it:) It was with 10.2.4 that it wouldn't work! Let's see what 10.3 will give us to play with... greetz, Jeffer
