BikeBoy Posted August 26, 2003 Posted August 26, 2003 Hi, I began using ZoneAlarm 3.7.202.0 with FileMaker Server 5 running on Windows 2000 server. The users can access the database files hosted on the server, but can only view data, not enter records, etc. I am very new to firewalls, wondering if anyone knows how to allow data entry and keep high level of security at the same time. Thanks very much
Anatoli Posted August 26, 2003 Posted August 26, 2003 I was using ZoneAlarm, but because it was colliding with my CD Nero burning software I've stopped to using ZA. Is ZA open for both communications, in and out?
BikeBoy Posted August 27, 2003 Author Posted August 27, 2003 Yeah, should be. I've fixed the data entering problem, but still sometimes the databases take a long time to close on the server. Just wondering what is the best tried-and-true firewall to use with FileMaker Server 5.
Anatoli Posted August 27, 2003 Posted August 27, 2003 IMHO -- the whole network should be protected by good firewall. Hardware or with some Linux software.
