Help! Moving Data from FMP 6 file to MySQL DB

Hello - I'm an old hack with FileMaker Pro but brand new to the SQL world and I'm learning hands on here... smile.gif

I need to move some data from my FMP database to my "MySQL" branded database at my web server. How do I do this?

Currently I have the MySQL ODBC Driver installed on my PC and it does connect to the database successfully (when using the "test connection" button in the driver setup app). I also have MySQL Control Center as my query application which I've used to connect to and set up tables in my remote database.

Now, all I need to know is how to actually move the data from the FMP 6 database to the remote MySQL database.

Do I use MySQL Control Center or FMP 6 to move the data from the FMP 6 database to the MySQL database? Once I know what application I use, I'll need to know how to actually do it. I've read the manual (Chapter 15 - ODBC) in FileMaker but it's still kinda gibberish to me right now - tho it's slowly sinking in... smile.gif

Any ideas or pointers to information for me? Thank you in advance.

A T Martin

I just made final recommendation on this issue: Lasso 6 from Blue World.

also if you know anyone who knows perl, have them whip up a script. i had someone do a similar thing for me w/ perl. perl is powerful and portable.

Or PHP.

After checking various web languages I have the feeling, that Lasso 6 is for me the best. Obviously, for next person it can be something different.
