Newbies shtylman Posted September 8, 2003 Newbies Posted September 8, 2003 Question 1:I am new to filemaker and the developer version capabilies. I wish to make a standalone database but I need the use of ODBC. Is there any way (cheaper the better) of making this happen. Question 2:How can I remove the filemaker standard menu? I know there are programs but is there a simple plug-in script that just removes the menu? ~Alex
Mike D. Posted September 10, 2003 Posted September 10, 2003 I haven't used ODBC in any of my solutions, but I can offer some advice on question 2. You can disable (not remove) the menus and toolbar by changing the privileges setting in the Password dialog box (File --> Access Privileges --> Passwords). Create at least two passwords - one for the developer with full privileges and a blank password with the restricted privileges. Set the Edit Preferences to use a default blank password. To pop up the password box when starting your db, hold the shift key on a PC or the Option key if on a Mac. HTH, Mike
cpbatwes Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 ODBC: You can use PDM's SQL plug-in which works well for both FM Pro and Runtime http://www.clickware.com/products.htm MENU: You can use Dacon's MenuControl. Also works with both. Have fun!
