LindaG Posted September 17, 2003 Posted September 17, 2003 Hello everyone, I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section - I read them all and wasn't sure where to put this. Our Management wants to demo our program to another business. They won't allow installation of FM on their computer and I don't want to haul a computer there if I don't have to. Is it possible to install FMP6 onto a CD and run our demo from there? If so, how would I do it? Thank you for any suggestions, and please remember I'm pretty new to FM, so talk as to a newbie, okay? Thank you. Sorry, the other company has Windows but I'm not sure what version. Linda G DAC
Lee Smith Posted September 17, 2003 Posted September 17, 2003 You could install your solution on a CD, and then have the other company download the demo of FileMaker from www.filemaker.com. That is if they already have a copy. After making your CD, I would test the CD in my office, on a machine that it's not installed on, and is not connected to a network, to ensure that all works as expected. HTH Lee
andygaunt Posted September 17, 2003 Posted September 17, 2003 Linda -- You say they won't allow installation of FileMaker on one of their computers. In that case you will have to create a runtime of your database. To do this you need to have FileMaker Developer. But you will still have to copy the runtime files to their machine as the CD is a read only medium. To copy them over it is best to zip on the cd first, then copy the zip and unzip, otherwise you have to mess about turning off the read only property for all files. HTH
LindaG Posted September 17, 2003 Author Posted September 17, 2003 Thank you Lee and Andy for your help. I really appreciate it. Problem is it's a bank that leases from their headquarters and they aren't allowed to install any files on their computers. I guess I'll need to haul a cpu to their office. Drat!!! Oh well, at least I now have answers for management. Thank you so much for helping me. Linda Gent DAC
