Problems with PostScript Printer Drivers

Featured Replies

I have left many posts about pages not printing correctly or missing. I now realize that Filemaker does not work well with PostScript printer drivers. I had problems on an HP8000n HP4550 HP6L HP2100 Canon A30. None printed the pages correctly. When I tried printing on a epson and a samsung printer no problems. The only thing that differed between printer brands was the layout of text on the printed copy.

I am also trying to create pdfs as well. But it happens that acrobat uses postscript printer drivers. So again on the pdfs that are created the last two pages do not appear correctly.

I have been pounding my head on the monitor for the past 2 weeks over this crazy issue. Any advice or suggestions would be very helpful.

I've rarely had problems with Filemaker and postscript. In fact, I've always had more luck with PS than with nonPS printers. However, having said that, I have occasionally run into problems due to low memory on the printer itself because of the way the PS driver composes the print job. I solved the problem in many cases by using the Adobe PS driver from the Adobe website. www.adobe.com It's a free download. This driver seems to produce more memory efficient print jobs than the Laserwriter driver that came with my Macintosh. Adobe has drivers for both Mac and Windows.

Bob's post is saying it for me. I had some spacing and sizing problems with non-postscript HP's.

Not with postscript printers.
