user interaction during a script, preview mode

Featured Replies

I am sure this has been discussed already, but I couldn't find it. I would like the user to choose what action to take, while in preview mode. So if they choose a specific report, and are viewing it, there needs to be a location where I can place buttons for printing, quitting, cancelling and going back to the menu, etc. How can this be done since preview mode is the only way to view a report but at the same time buttons can't be placed there?

Thank you

Hi:

Yes, this has been discussed a few times.

FM's Preview Mode is limited, and doesn't allow button use. A clever way around this is to use a naviagation palette. It's all been done for you! smile.gif

Thanks, I appreciate your help on this. Your demo is good, though it will take a while for me to wade through it. There are a lot of concepts of FM that you use that I have not gotten into yet, but your demo will challenge me to rise to a new level. Thanks again.

Don't be scared. It's not bad. grin.gif

All that is does is use a button to enter preview mode (notice that the status area is not shown). When it goes to preview mode, the file windows restore down and you see the preview palette file. This file uses buttons that call the functions from the main file using scripts.

Just open the preview file and look at what scripts are attached to the buttons. Follow these scripts and you will see what functions they perform.

Its rather simple, but very ingenious if you ask me (I would have never thought of it).
