Scripting Adobe Acrobat

Featured Replies

My DB stores references to PDFs stored into a web directory.

Does anybody know how to tell acrobat to "Open Web Page..." with applescript.

I know it's not really a FileMaker issue, but Adobe doesn't have a cool forum like that one!

Thank you for not flaming me smile.gif

Why don't you just open it with your browser (open location in AS or Open URL in ScriptMaker). You can set your browser to use Acrobat for pdfs and set it to view using the application (not the plug-in).

Because a copy of the PDF is stored in the default download direcotry of the browser each time the PDF is open.

Well from looking at the Acrobat AS dictionary, the Open command is looking for an alias. If you can figure out how get AS to treat a web location as an alias, maybe that will work.

i'll try that, thank you

Thinking about it, you are opening an item off the web. You would like to edit it and resave it.

I believe you will need to mount the web volume (via FTP or AFP?). I suppose you could work out a method via HTTP, but I think you will need to cache the item locally.

It's getting a little bit complicated, with some configuration issues.

I'm thinking about not using acrobat and storing digital documents directly inside filemaker as jpegs.
