Newbies Marty Posted October 4, 2003 Newbies Posted October 4, 2003 My customer requires verification that I can distribute runtime solutions using Filemaker Developer without licenses from Filemaker. How is this best handled? Thanks, Marty
Lee Smith Posted October 4, 2003 Posted October 4, 2003 Download the specification sheet about developer from FileMaker's site. Lee
CobaltSky Posted October 4, 2003 Posted October 4, 2003 If you have a copy of FMD, then you must also have a copy of the license provisions and the manuals. Just print and mail, scan and email or fax them a copy of page 1-6 of the FMD 6 Developer Guide, which starts with the following sentence: "The FileMaker Developer license agreement allows you royalty-free distribution of an unlimited number of FileMaker Pro runtime database solutions." ...or better still, send them to the products page of the FMI site, where the first words they will read about FMD say something very similar to the above.

CobaltSky Posted October 5, 2003 Posted October 5, 2003 Hi Lee, Lee Smith said:Did I just say this? Nope Lee, you said something else...
Lee Smith Posted October 5, 2003 Posted October 5, 2003 Yeah, right. Such a big difference, point or print. And, how can you be sure that the client even has assess to the internet?
CobaltSky Posted October 5, 2003 Posted October 5, 2003 No, Lee, The 'point' is that they don't have to download anything. They just need to read the first sentence of the site itself. You were suggesting that they go to the site, find the link to download the specs, download it, open it in Acrobat reader and get informed. I was suggesting that they don't need to do that, they can just go to the site and read. A whole lot easier. 'Yeah right', it *is* different. And as regards your afterthought: 'And, how can you be sure that the client even has assess (sic) to the internet? ' I can't be sure that they're sighted, that they can read or that they understand English either, but in the absence of any indication to the contrary, I regard all four as reasonable assumptions. But notwithstanding that, my initial response also included options for print and mail or fax as well as email - and using material Marty presumably already has on hand, all of which also obviate the need to download anything.
