Newbies clydog Posted October 16, 2003 Newbies Posted October 16, 2003 I work for a small organisation with an office based in a library. Our current setup is as follows: 1 Mac G4 hosting our database (FMServer 5.5) + 3 iMacs (2 running FMPro 5.5 and 1 running FMPro 6) G4 > Hub1 iMac
Anatoli Posted October 16, 2003 Posted October 16, 2003 No, altering 100Mb network will not improve performance. Only if there is constant copying of really large graphic files, then switch will help. On such 100Mb network we run 20 local FM users and 50 FM remote users with Terminal Services. Obviously our FM server on Windows is faster. You can think of changing the FM server to Linux or Windows based. But IMHO everything is in FM design. I've changed and improved some FM systems and from multiple minutes search or display form time decreased to split second.
