John Chamberlain Posted November 7, 2003 Posted November 7, 2003 I think I have painted myself into a corner. I agreed to set up some data bases for The Wellness Community (a non-prof that offers free support to cancer victims and their families). I have all the data bases integrated, and they all work just the way they should (I hope). My problem is in setting up the server. I have a copy of FMP Server 3 for Windows NT, and a copy of Windows NT 4.0. I thought I could just put the Windows NT on a computer, then install the FMP Server, and plug it into the network's router. I can't get past the installation of the Windows NT yet, Don't think that this is a problem, but I have to get Microsoft to give me a new password because I bought it used on Ebay. My question is (providing I can first get the Windows NT installed and working), am I spinning my wheels trying to get this scheme to work?
Kurt Knippel Posted November 7, 2003 Posted November 7, 2003 Not really, you should be fine. Although you are running old, unsupported software on an old, unsupported OS for a non-profit organization. However many people run Filemaker Server on Windows NT 4.1 with the latest patches. In fact Filemaker only just recently certified on Win2k (which replaces WinNT).
