TaiChi56 Posted November 28, 2003 Posted November 28, 2003 I developed my program with the cursor hand showing when the cursor is placed over a button. I ran a runtime file, then used Setup Factory to make an installer. When I install the database the hand cursor is not working. Is it the Developer tool or Setup Factory? I am new and still learning how to work these programs properly. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. P.S. I love this forum. Great bunch of people.
CobaltSky Posted November 28, 2003 Posted November 28, 2003 Hello TaiChi56, You've not said what platform or operating system you're working with, nor what version of developer you used to bind the runtimes, so it is difficult to be specific, but nevertheless I'm not able to confirm the problem you are experiencing. Runtimes normally provide the mouseover hand functionality where it has been selected in the original application, and that is the case with all the various runtimes we've created here from several different versions of FMD and on a number of operating systems/versions. There is no obvious reason why an installer would change the behaviour of the application either, providing it is correctly configured. However it might pay to check that all the files generated by the Developer Tool are being included and correctly installed (including 'invisible' files - .dlls etc where applicable).
TaiChi56 Posted November 28, 2003 Author Posted November 28, 2003 Thank you for answering. Sorry I forgot to put what OS and developer tool. Here it is, Windows XP Pro, Filemaker Developer tool ver.5.0.0.33. I went and checked my files to ensure that I had view all files checked and I did. I also went back to my discipline.fp6 file and checked that the hand cursor was working and it did. It does not work when I make the runtime files. I am not sure how to configure the developer tool. I am new to all this and trying to learn. I appreciate you taking the time to answer me.
SteveB Posted November 28, 2003 Posted November 28, 2003 I use Setup Factory and Win XP to create kiosks, and I can tell you that the cursor does change from a pointer to a hand. There is nothing in Developer that I'm aware of that could cause your problem. Trying creating a simple test file, creating a runtime with it, and see if it works. With no other clues, I would guess that it could only be 2 things: the file(s) your using for the runtime may be corrupted, or you need to re-install FM. Steve
