December 9, 200322 yr Does anyone know of or have an Apllescript that will Change Enter Key at Number Pad to Tab Key?
December 9, 200322 yr I don't know about AppleScript. I don't believe it ever could type keys, unless you used a Scripting Addition, Sandii's or other, and never could intercept a key. These Scripting Additions were OS 9 only, as was my favorite macro program, KeyQuencer; history, in other words. You'd want a macro tool that could capture and reroute keystrokes, and only do so when FileMaker was the active application. I'd be pretty annoyed if I couldn't use my Enter key anywhere else. For OS X there's a few of these. I've not used any of them, so can't say for sure, but they look promising. First of course is Quickeys, but it's expensive for just this (the latest version is getting some good press, but earlier ones not so much). Then there's iKey ($20, used to be Youpi Key, good reviews), and also KeyXing (free?). I don't know if they could distinguish the Enter key from the Return key. Hopefully so.

December 10, 200322 yr Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that Scripting Additions were history; bad writing on my part. There are fewer for OS X, but growing all the time (unfortunately the great Akua Sweets is not available on OS X, sigh). But I still don't think AppleScript is going to capture the Enter key. I think it requires a macro type program to do that, several of which are available for OS X. Some things may be done more directly with shell scripts, so things are also moving in that direction. If anyone really knows Unix (not me, unfortunately), download this free plug-in. It allows you to run command line shell scripts directly from FileMaker, without even needing AppleScript as a go-between. http://www.abstrakt.com/files/shell.sea.hqx Then let us know what's useful to do with it :-)
