I know that runtime cannot be implemented in a network, without running FMP server. But, has anyone tried running FM runtime in a "shared folder" over a network. Will this work? I expect it will only allow single-user access, but can it be accessed from remote computers through the shared folder?

This would solve a major problem I am having.

Thanks.

Hi Ellen,

Quick answer... Runtime solutions CANNOT be used by more than one user... period!

Yes, runtime solutions will function from a FILE server "share-point"... but, ONLY one user at a time.

I am unsure if you can multi-launch runtime solutions from FMP Server... as FMP Server is designed to host FM data files that are being utilized in a multi-user environment with users that each have FMP application (not runtime).

Below is a FMForums link to a post that discusses some things of that might interest you...

This post has two replies I posted to help clarify some of your concerns.

Hope this helps... Good Luck!

Bob, thanks for the reply. Server is not an option, but I may try having the program running in a shared folder. Even with the single-user limitation, it may work for my client (or, I should say, potential client!) As long as it can be accessed by the remote computers, they may be willing to live with the one-at-a-time limitation. Anyway, it's worth a try.
