Newbies Josh Montano Posted December 19, 2003 Newbies Posted December 19, 2003 I have been using FM to store invoices and control them, but I need to keep them store so I scan them into a PDF format and then put a link in a container field in FM so everybody can access them through my server. but the problem is that the link works well for Windows users(who are the ones who insert the invoices) but the Mac users just cannot access them. What should I do??
Fenton Posted December 19, 2003 Posted December 19, 2003 Are the Macs on OS X? It supports PDF in container fields. In my limited experiments they do not print as PDF's however; they print fuzzy. But for screen viewing that may work. Another cross-platform possibility is to just keep the PDFs as files and serve them via a web server (the operating sytem's built-in one will do). That way you just store the URL path in FileMaker, as text, then use OpenURL to open them. Acrobat Reader will do the PDF reading (unless you have a plug-in to read PDFs in your browser).
