Timbuktu and FM Passwords

I've just tried to open one of my FM dbs via Timbuktu dialup (Mac OS9 both computers, FMP 6.04 on both) and it won't recognize/accept my password which includes characters generated by typing with the "Option" key held down.

Has anyone had this trouble before, and if so, is there a workaround that doesn't involve changing all my passwords on all my files?
