Import and Save Copy As Scriptmaker steps (4.1)

Featured Replies

I have a multi-file solution that has an update feature that I find incredibly difficult to maintain, and wondered whether anyone had a better solution, and/or information about how to document and manage the path of the Import Records and Save File As script steps. The new database files are loaded into a subfolder, and then are opened. They automatically import the client's data from another location, and then the newly-populated files are saved in the client's base folder. The problem is that I cannot see what the actual path settings are for the old data, or where the new data will be saved. Moreover, Filemaker 4.1 doesn't seem to store the path settings with the script step, so that if I (or someone else) happens to change the settings, the update routine will no longer work.

Is there a solution to this?

TIA.

I am not familiar with version 4.1 I have 5 and please forgive me if this seems to be a stupid answer.

Could you place the Filemaker files and the data files all in the same place, then regardless of whether you are Importing or Save As'ing the path would be the same.

I believe this plugin should help.
