Scripting - separate files

I'm new to this shocked.gif" border="0

I am trying to understand what Filmaker can do - so here's a brief assessment of what I'm up to.

What I have -

two files - one that contains main 'Job' information and one that contains detailed 'Parts' information for the job. I currently use the 'Part' file as repeating lines for the 'Job' (i.e. 1 job may have 10 different part items)

What I want to do -

run a report that will list the part items for all open jobs, sorted by due date.

My question is crazy.gif" border="0 -

can I, as part of my 'Job' file run a report that utilizes all the records in the part file. With the ability to sort and find specific records in that part file. I would assume that I would somehow use scripting.

What I understand -

I know how to run the report while I'm in the 'Part' file - but I would like to be able to utilize my 'Job' file as my main resource of information. (i.e. run all my reports and clarify/search data w/o jumping back and forth between files)

Thank you for your help!

To print information from the parts file, create a script in the Jobs file that includes a Perform Script(Sub-scripts, external,...) step. Within this script step, select the Parts file and script you wish to execute. -bd
