I am creating a form where the requestor needs to isert an object. I want to add a button to the form so that when hit, it opens the insert object step and allows the user to enter the path to their file. As far as I can see, if I write a script that inserts object, it fails becuase I need to specify the file myself.

I have version 5 for windows hopefully this helps.

When creating the script step Insert Object, uncheck the Specify box. This will force the user to enter his own data for the object to be inserted. I would also use a Go To Field - unselect 'select/perform' step to make sure the object get placed in the correct field.

If you are on a Mac I have version 4,

The only thing that I could see was Import Picture and Import Movie and it worked the same way. Just make sure that if you use the Go To Field step to unselect 'select/perform' because it will force a sound recorder dialog.
