Lockdown record modification at specific time

Is it possible to lockdown a record after a specified time period? For example, a record could be modified until the end of the workday, and then it would be locked, with no further changes allowed to all fields.

What would be the start ? Creation Date ?

Then for example simply set a calculation not (Status(CurrentDate)-CreationDate)>1 could be entered in the Edit Record Privileges options.

Isn't that radical ?
