Portal Finds and Display

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a portal in a primary file that has 2 fields from a file related by Resource Number. The parent field is Resource Type and the child field is Resource Name. Both fields have value lists with drop downs. I want to have the capability to select a Resource Type and have all of the Resource Names with this particular type appear all at once in the portal. I also need the capability to choose more than one Resource Type. Some Resoure Types may have 100 or more Resource Names. At present we are choosing them one by one.

All suggestions are appreciated!

Make a portal in the Resource type db using the relationship you have and insert the resource name in the first portal row from that relationship. Also insert the Resource type field on the layout where the portal is and attached your value list to it and select the resource type that you want and all the related data will appear the the portal. Do not insert the resource type in the portal.

Lionel,

Thanks for the reply! I do have portals in other databases that work as you described, but this is a bit different. I need to be able to pull up more than one Resource Type and show all the Resource Names that go with each type.

I'm still searching! Thanks again!
