I'm working on a project for the HR department where a manager will fill out a form that the HR folks will use to find qualified candidates. This form will contain salary information so I want to lock the record down so that only the HR folks and the specific hiring mananger can see the salary info.

I could use record level security and only allow the current user (the manager) to browse his or her own records. But the user name is so easily changed that I don't want to rely on that method.

The potential number of users is so high that I don't want to give everybody their own password for obvious reasons.

How would you FMP gurus handle this?

Use Secure FM from New Millennium [http://www.newmillennium.com] to lock the Preferences area so the user name can not be changed. If using FileMaker Pro 6 there might be a couple of other areas you could explore.
